I already gave up on them and I am encouraging you too. Not forever, like I did, but just until they get new ownership. Here is one of the many reasons to give up on them.

When they broke that up opening night with me in the stands, it was over. Mitch Richmond, the guy that they dealt was my favorite player, even though Mullin and Timmy were awesome as well. While this is not a treatise on me, or on Billy Owens, who I like, since he was an Orangeman, they broke the bond, between fan and team. All good things come to an end, but so should the pain and heartbreak of having to watch and inferior product and knowing that others have what you want.

Here is the current owner of the Warriors, Chris Cohan.

You need to step your suit game up if you are that rich...I'm just sayin...

Wiki ells you the story of why Warriors fans have had too much…

Christopher J. Cohan is the current owner of the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. He acquired a 25-percent interest in the team in 1991; in 1995, he became sole owner; he sold 20 percent of the team to four Silicon Valley investors in 2005.

Here is how he got the team….

Chris Cohan sued his business partners to gain sole ownership of the Golden State Warriors in 1994. The Warriors were a popular, 50-win team at the time, and soon turned into a nationally ridiculed loser. Not only that, there was a long list of parties dragged into civil courtrooms by “Cohan the Contrarian” which included his stockbroker, life insurance agent, and primary attorney. Hard to believe, but all were longtime friends. One was the best man at Cohan’s wedding and another a groomsman. Cohan was sued, too, for failing to pay his bills by his landlord — the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority,[1]

Cohan’s tenure as owner of the Warriors has been highlighted with the longest playoff drought of any team in NBA history. From 1994 to 2007, the Warriors did not make the playoffs under Cohan. Under Cohan, the team has had nine head coaches and did not have a winning season until the 2006-2007 season, after Cohan rehired Don Nelson as head coach. The 2006-2007 season was highlighted by one of the most memorable upsets in NBA Playoff history when the eighth-seeded Warriors knocked off the heavily favored top-seed Dallas Mavericks in six games in the first round. The Warriors went on to lose to the Utah Jazz in the second round of the playoffs. Cohan was the guiding force behind a completely refurbished arena in 1997 (now the 19,596-seat ORACLE Arena) and the building of a modern practice facilities in downtown Oakland for the Warriors in 1998. Cohan has been intensely criticized for his unsuccessful ownership.[1]

Here is the plea of a lifelong Warrior fan and friend of the Blog…

“I am a die hard Warriors fan who grew up with the Run TMC squad and has loved the team ever since. Like most or all of you, I suffered through the PJ Carlesimo era, the Dave Cowens era, and the Erik Musselman era; the decision to draft Joe Smith over Kevin Garnett in ’95, the decision to draft Todd Fuller over Kobe Bryant in ’96, and the decision to draft Mike Dunleavy over Amare Stoudemire in ’02; the Latrell Sprewell incident, the Stephen Jackson extension, and every other tragic and horrible mistake that this franchise has committed over the past 15 years. In that time, the team’s combined win percentage has been 37%. In 15 years, the Warriors have made the playoffs exactly ONCE, in a league where MORE THAN HALF THE TEAMS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS EACH YEAR.

Enough is enough.

Through 15 years of staggering incompetence and futility, there have been exactly two constants in the Warriors’ organization: owner Chris Cohan and his sidekick and team president, Robert Rowell. Tim Kawakami at the Mercury News recently reported that Cohan is in financial trouble, and that if his problems get worse, he may be forced to sell the team. Larry Ellison, the billionaire owner of Oracle, has stated on numerous occasions that he would like to buy the team and keep it here in the Bay.

I say that we put the squeeze on Chris Cohan, make him feel the pain we have felt during his tragic reign of incompetence and neglect, and stick it to him in the one place where he will actually feel it: his pocketbook.

Starting this year, I am boycotting the Warriors. I will still watch the team on TV and follow it in the papers because I am a die hard fan and I love the team and the game of basketball, but I will not spend one red cent that could possibly flow to Chris Cohan and his organization. If enough of you join me, this can become a real movement, and one that can actually result in positive change.

In the short term, a boycott may create more pain. The Warriors may be forced to unload some of the few players we still love on this dysfunctional squad. We may lose Monta, Andris, Anthony Randolph, and even Steph Curry. But in the long run, all of that talent will be destroyed for our purposes anyway, whether the players remain here or not. If history has taught us anything, it is that Chris Cohan and his cronies will find a way to ruin anything good, to turn every plus into a minus.

The only way to save our beloved franchise is to force Chris Cohan to sell it.

Boycott the Warriors until Chris Cohan sells the team, and spread the word to every Warriors fan you know to do the same.”

My buddy has some fire to his points. Yahoo concludes VOTE SELL…there are people out there with deep pockets and the timing is right. Don’t spoil the items in the refrigerator for the next ownership group/coach. It will be the best move you have ever made.

The bid of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has been out there, but details of another intriguing offer to buy the Warriors have emerged, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. There is a well-moneyed and politically connected Bay Area group that has approached Cohan about purchasing the team and building a privately funded arena in downtown San Francisco. What’s more, the group has already had third parties call several well-respected NBA front-office executives about running the team.

As for Ellison, sources say he knows what the Warriors are worth in his mind and he isn’t inclined to raise the offer Cohan has already rejected. The Warriors and NBA deny the team is for sale, but as one official with knowledge of the bids says, while Cohan “can go hot and cold,” the San Jose Mercury News’ reports over the summer were accurate. It’s just a matter of time until he sells.

So, boycott the Warriors and follow someone who needs your help. The Clips are just owned by a racist, but he was willing to give Baron a bunch of money to play…

October 20, 2009 3:24 PM

By Henry Abbott

On Atlanta’s 790 the Zone this morning, Atlanta Hawk Al Horford was asked about his playoff battle with the Celtics’ Paul Pierce in 2008.

That series was intense, remember?

The hosts asked Horford, who was on the show with teammate Marvin Williams, if he ever got the chance to clear the air with Pierce after the game.

“I never talked to him,” says Horford, “but I know he owes me money. Marvin was a witness. He was telling me they were going to sweep us and all this. We bet. And I never got anything.”

Asked how much he’s owed, Horford says “ten thousand” and then explains that bet was that the Hawks would not get swept.

Bret LaGree of Hoopinion, who typed up the whole exchange (originally spotted on Peachtree Hoops), says that Williams is a paragon of honesty, and it means something that he immediately seconds Horford’s version of events by saying “true story.”

I suspect few people care about players, in the heat of the battle, saying in no uncertain terms that they believe in their teams.

But anyone who has ever heard the name “Pete Rose” knows that people get weirded out by the idea of players betting on games they play in, and not without reason. As much as $10k here or there to go with a win might be fun and harmless, there’s danger in players looking to profit from gambling — because the real money in that game is in betting that your team will lose, and then helping them do so, and nobody is OK with that. That’s far from what happened here, but the NBA has to draw the line somewhere.

While I am not worried abotu gambling in the sport and someone throwing games, I am more worried about people welshing on the bets that they were brave enough to make before knowing the end results. Pay what you owe and nobody will get hurt.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — For $25,000, you can watch the New Jersey Nets from courtside — and have a player stop by your son’s birthday party.

In a tough economy, it’s the Nets’ latest marketing effort to sell its pricey courtside seats. It’s called ‘Your Ticket to a Player.’

For $25,000, the Nets are offering four courtside tickets for 10 games, parking, access to a private lounge at the Izod Center with free food and beverages and something more — a one-hour appearance by a Nets player of your choice at your home, office, school or party.

“It will be interesting to have an NBA player come to your birthday party or come to your Bar Mitzvah or even just coming to your house for dinner for an hour when your friends are over,” Nets chief executive Brett Yormark said. “That’s a terrific thing and it’s tough to put a price tag on it.”

The package offers a discount: Purchased individually, Nets courtside seats sell for $750 each and 40 would cost $30,000.

Yormark said the idea for the courtside plan developed because he had an inventory of courtside seats that he wanted to sell and he frequently gets calls from season-ticket holders and fans about having a player attend an event.

Players will not be compensated for the one-hour visits, the Nets said.

“It helps everybody to have more fans at our games, so if the players can make a difference by meeting with ticket buyers at their homes or offices, we are happy to participate,” Nets All-Star guard Devin Harris said.

While Harris is the most popular Nets player, Yormark said not everyone will get their top choice of players for an appearance.

The Nets hope to sell 20 plans, which would raise $500,000.

Yormark said teams have to find different ways to sell tickets in a recession. He believes the Nets are the first NBA team to package tickets sales with a player appearance.

“I tell people if you are doing business the same way you did a year ago, you have to stop it because that’s not the world we live in today,” Yormark said. “A lot of people say it, but it’s really true in the world we live in today. You have to do things differently. Things have to be more special and different than before and that’s our goal.”

Two months ago, the Nets unveiled a special 10-game “Match-Up” ticket plan under which fans got a collection of reversible jerseys with the uniforms of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard on one side and the jersey of the Nets’ player on the other side.

“It’s been the best partial-plan seller since I’ve been here,” Yormark said. “Fans love it. Kids are loving the jerseys. It’s something that is going to live all season for us. It’s going to be an anchor to our ticket sales effort.”

Once you make it, you usually hear of players talking about taking their parents out the hood and buying them a big, new house and a bright shiny car. Players are clearly not obligated to do that. But, you should have an obligation to NOT RIP THEM OFF! Rumeal must have been sleeping during that ethics lesson in life, since he did just that.

CAMBRIDGE – Rumeal Robinson scaled the pinnacle of American sports in April 1989, an ice-in-his-veins basketball player from the streets of Cambridge who sank a pair of pressure-packed free throws to vault the University of Michigan to a storybook national championship.

His tale was the stuff of fantasy: rescued from homelessness at age 10, given shelter and self-esteem by strangers, and presented with a new life that once seemed destined for aimless tragedy when his biological mother abandoned him. He even had the Cambridge street he lived on named after him.

That tale, inspiring and incredible, has taken a shockingly tawdry twist.

His adoptive mother wants the street, Rumeal Robinson Place, stripped of its name and rededicated to her late husband. And she wants a mural of her son, placed in honor near the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School fieldhouse, purged of his glory-days image.

Now, what could have this guy done that is that horrible? He swindled his adoptive mother out of her home…

Helen Ford, incredulous and embittered, alleges that Robinson swindled her of the sprawling old home where she lived for 35 years and raised him. She has since been evicted, lost many of her belongings and mementos, and says she is struggling to pay the rent for an apartment in Somerville. “He’s not deserving of none of this fame,’’ said Ford, 65, who has worked as a safety officer for the Cambridge schools for 30 years. “He was thought of as a nice person, but he’s not a nice person. Not after what he’s done.’’ Robinson could not be reached for comment, but his lawyer said he finds the allegation “hard to believe.’’ Boston Globe

Ford and her attorney accuse Robinson of a brazen fraud committed in June 2003, when the lawyer alleges that Ford was duped into signing over the home to one of her son’s business associates. Dennis Benzan, the attorney, said that Robinson had asked Ford to put up the home as collateral for a loan he needed to build a luxury resort in his native Jamaica. Instead, amid a flurry of documents pushed under her pen, Ford says she unwittingly signed a deed that sold the two-family home to Robinson’s associate for $600,000. Ford says she never saw a dime of the money, a later mortgage defaulted, and Ford was dumbfounded when she received an order in March to vacate the home. Boston Globe

Who ever texted this is completely right.

Who ever texted this should be fired.

Which one of these statements are true? Both of them….

Adrian Wojnarowski: One league assistant coach just texted: “They should suspend Nellie for ‘conduct detrimental” for assembling that dream team.’” Twitter.com

Nellie has created this Titanic like team on his watch, and for that, he should be fired. Pay him his money, let him go. For disinterested to the team dyanmics and success, but like the NBA, like myself, this train wreck is going to be fun to watch.

SJax versus Nellie! An absoulte wreck already happening....

Also, Whoever text-ed this message, should be fired if it came from the Warriors. That type of subordination is at the heart of what is so dysfunctional with the Warriors. That it came from most likely another coaching staff, then you know how far the product has fallen.

NBA 2K10 Review

One decade later, it’s still the game to beat.

by Jeff HaynesOctober 5, 2009 – Although EA Sports has held the crown for most sports games, the NBA 2K series has still been the gold standard when it comes to basketball simulation. With excellent presentation values, solid on and off court play (thanks to its franchise mode) and an incredibly rich amount of features, 2K has frequently held off its competitors, who have lagged behind with disappointing installments in the past. With the ten year anniversary of the franchise slated for this year, 2K Sports had more of a reason to maintain their dominance. Plus, with Sony’s first party game taking a year off in the development leagues and NBA Live raising the level of its game, the burden was on them to prove why their game was the best around. Fortunately, NBA 2K10 will not disappoint fans of the series, even with some annoying problems that can try your patience.

As what happens at this time, I will be copping the game tonight. Unfortunately, since I have a meeting tomorrow morning, I will not call in sick, but Lord knows, I want to….

and another question is “Lebron, why are you a snitch?” That is all you did here…Either hire someone to beat him down, or for a better suggestion, just do it yourself. If one of my boys get decked in a fight,we would be riding for the dude that did it.

Maybe this is the way to bring a championship to CLE....

When you have nothing to say, sometimes you grab for anything. In being interviewed, LeBron called Braylon Edwards childish for allegedly hitting a friend of his.

BEREA, Ohio (AP)—LeBron James called Browns receiver Braylon Edwards(notes) “childish” for allegedly punching James’ friend early Monday morning outside of a Cleveland night club.

James said Edwards punched Edward Givens, a friend of James’ and a promoter with a Cleveland marketing firm who was working outside the club around 2:30 a.m. EDT.

The world does not revolve around you Lebron. In fact a lot of people just don't care and are not jealous of you.

“I’ve never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there’s a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why,” James said. “I’ve never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It’s like hitting one of my kids. It doesn’t make sense.”

James says he was home when the fight occurred, but got a call from Givens telling him about it at 7 a.m. Monday.

LeBron, it sounds like this dude is one of your kids. Why is he calling you that early in the morning to talk about what happened at the club? Did he stay out past his curfew? It makes sense if dude was talking slick. He is old enough to be responsible for what he says.

This reminds me of what happened to Erik when he went to the CAL game this weekend. (To make a long story short, this old dude thought that he could check Erik with repercussions. He was wrong … E almost had to beat an old dude down in front of his father.) Bottom line, if someone puts his hands on you, or says something slick, then all bets are off.

maybe less time on the sidekick and more time watching where you are going would have prevented you from getting smacked up....this is a promotional picture of the firm that LBJ's friend works at. Not sure which he is, but he got bruised up!

Browns coach Eric Mangini said he has spoken with Braylon Edwards about the alleged fight.

I wonder what Coach said….I would have said something like, “Where was that fight during the game, since we lost and you didn’t catch a single pass, even though Anderson threw for 269 yards?”

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that a 28-year-old man accused Edwards of punching him in the face following an argument. The man said Edwards hit him with a closed fist. He said he suffered a black eye and cut and was treated at a hospital.

Why is this part news? Did he expect to be hit with an open fist in a slapping motion?

he does look pretty satisfied.....

Mangini said he was aware of the incident. He added his players’ personal conduct is important and that he was still gathering information on the incident.

Edwards did not catch a pass in Sunday’s 23-20 overtime loss to Cincinnati. It was the first time in 62 career games Edwards did not have at least one reception.

So, it might have changed Braylon’s game, hopefully LBJ will not let it change his game.
